Christmas can be a time of miracles. However, so can all times be miraculous especially when many people around the world have their minds and hearts turned to the divine. When so many people hold a consciousness of love and thinking on God, it can boost our consciousness and broaden the global effect of our divine energies. Thus, Christmas and other spiritual timings are good times to ride the wave of thoughts on God to help us connect to the energies of God.

Consciousness Change

To help us, I am abstracting a process from the Hallmark Movie Channel. Ok, hang in with me here. Sometimes wisdom is there in the mundane.

And I must I admit I am addicted to the Hallmark Channel movies. At Christmas, they run all day long Christmas movies. All those movies have a very similar formula, and are thus, very predictable. So, as I was binge watching I asked myself, what is the appeal of this? What I came up with is that these movies support my reality and have the process right for consciousness change.

All the Hallmark movies show a consciousness-changing journey of the main character. Always they shift from states of upset, pain, worldliness, selfishness, or financial consciousness, to a consciousness of the miraculous nature of life, of love, of the importance of loving and giving to one another and the community. The journey to this enlightened consciousness contains pitfalls, challenges, and (at Christmas) miracles.

If Hallmark is doing it, it must mean that many of us long for this shift of consciousness. So, although we may innately know and yearn for these things, this is a good time to remind ourselves how to get there.

In the Hallmark Formula, they make their change by:

Getting some understanding of what stands between them and a consciousness of bliss. This often takes trials and eye-opening confrontations and yes-- miracles.

Beginning to open to love and other forms of divine consciousness and the miraculous, that are all around them, but they did not perceive before.

And in opening their hearts to embrace love and giving to others and the community.
Finally, they end up believing in love, family, humanity, and miracles.

So, since we are coming up on Christmas, and there are so many people thinking of love and miracles and the divine, I want us together to use that energy to propel our shift to divine consciousness. I want us all to be in our own Hallmark movie of transformation.

Christmas Time Challenges and Promises to Embracing a Miraculous Change of Consciousness

Here are my suggestions for doing that--challenges for you to engage in as experiments:

1. Put Your Mind and Heart on God

I challenge you to: Think on God.

I promise you: The blocks between you and God-consciousness will become clear and you can wash them. And when you do, you will be able to feel the energy of God in you.

First, I challenge you for 41 days to think on God 3 times per day for 20 minutes each time. Choose a form of the divine. However you understand God, use that. Or use any Divine Soul whose mission is to lead people to the ultimate truth of God. Examples of forms of God are Divine Mother in any of her forms, or your version of God, Yahweh, Allah. Examples of Divine Souls are Jesus, Mother Mary, Shirdi Sai Baba, Sri Kaleshwar, or Buddha.

If you are doing this at a time when others are thinking about a particular form of God or Divine Soul. Ride that wave of energy by choosing that form for this practice. Like at Christmas choosing Jesus or Mother Mary.

Then set your times to just meditate or think with an open heart on your chosen form of God. The goal of thinking or meditating is to have your loving consciousness solely on God/ the Divine Soul for that time. It is a form of connecting and aligning, through an open heart, with that divine energy.

To aid this, hold a picture of God or the Divine Soul in your third eye (or look at their picture till you can see it in your mind with eyes closed). If you know a mantra connected to that form of God or that Saint inwardly chant that mantra.

Then really feel the energy. Sri Kaleshwar said we should take some time really feeling the energy of our mediations and mantra processes. We need to know that energy. We need to be able to recall that energy to us. We need to understand its nature and uses. This is one of the ways to move us in our practice from stages 1 and 2 of illusion into stage 3 (for those who know those stages). So, feel it, watch it, memorize it. Try to recall it into your day when not meditating.

To feel the energy, I found it helps to set that intent. As part of my setting intent, I ask: fill me from head to toe with your energy, let me feel your energy as waves of energy in me. Let me hear your voice. Let me see you in my mind and let me see you with my 2 physical eyes. I also image each of these as I ask for it.

If you have chosen a Divine Soul, why not add the practice to connect with their soul. Keep a picture of the divine soul by your bed. Each day or at night before going to sleep, chant 108 times the Divine Soul’s name plus your personal mantra. (If you need it, I can send you a list of Personal Mantras – email Then, first thing in the morning, look at the Divine Soul’s picture. If you are doing this, why not then do your 20 minutes of meditation on the Divine Soul.

Ok, I know you are probably thinking I do not have 20 minutes, 3 times a day. I thought that too. Then I remembered what Depok Chopra said when a man told him he did not have time to do 30 minutes of meditation per day because he was too busy. Chopra said: “Then you need 1 hour of meditation per day.” So true. We are too bu and that is exactly why we need to do it. Give 1 hour purely to God. Wake up 20 minutes early, go to bed 20 minutes early, then find one other time per day. You can do it.

My Experience of This

I did this recently with thinking on Divine Mother. At first, it was actually excruciating. I found I could not keep my mind on Her in any form for more than a few minutes before my mind wandered off. Sometimes it wandered to the mundane (I am not the greatest meditator). But worse than this, my mind tended to wander to old shames, pains and hurts.

I began to judge myself. Can I not even keep my mind on God for a few minutes? What is wrong with me? I am a terrible meditator. I am terrible at this. How can I possibly be a spiritual person if my mind is this monkey?

I noticed I was really going down in unworthiness with this. But then again unworthiness is my deepest issue. After some time of kicking myself, I began to theorize that this unworthiness was the point. Maybe She is showing me this. Unworthiness is what stands between me and the total consciousness on God/ Mother. This process was putting me through my challenges and struggles to reach the consciousness of God.

That is how it works. To attain God consciousness, you have to wash the states of consciousness in you that do not match the state of the consciousness of God.

So, don’t give up. It is a washing of that which stands between you and your changed consciousness. And there is a process to washing you can use.

  1. Notice. Notice what stands between you and God. Not by sinking into those feelings or thoughts, but by being a witness to them. Separate out yourself from those feelings or thoughts and just watch how they play. Understand the issue rather than being it.
  2. Learn. Determine to get the lesson and not to behave that way again.
  3. Forgive. Ask and give forgiveness. Ask the form of God or Divine Soul to forgive you. Then talk to your inner self, giving forgiveness to yourself and others for whatever happened. See also the Soul Talk and erasing shame and mistakes.
  4. Embody. Turn your mind to feeling that forgiveness of God. Really try to feel that energy coming to you and in you.

There is also a beautiful mantra process you can use to wash your blocks as well. It can be found in Chapter Two of Sri Kaleshwar’s book on Jesus “The Real Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ.”

As I did this over the weeks, my wandering mind began to calm. I am still not the greatest meditator, but I was able to stay with the Mother images and thoughts and feel the divine energy in me.

2. Aham Bhramasmi—Everything is God

Part One: God in Nature

I challenge you to: Spend 30 minutes in nature each day connecting to God in everything.

I promise you: You will find what you are looking for.

As Sri Kaleshwar said: “Wherever you go, there is God. I am God. You are God. There in the flower, there is God.”

Each day till Christmas and including Christmas day, go alone into nature for 30 minutes and sit or walk looking at everything with eyes of love. Open your heart to nature and God. Notice the beauty, the silence filled with life, the deep underlying laws of nature, the power and the majesty. Marvel at the intricacy of even the smallest things. Feel the wind, the cold or heat, the sun. Smell the vegetation, precipitation, and the earth itself. Use all your senses to be embraced by and enveloped in nature. As your mediation intent just keep telling yourself (or knowing), “This is God.”

The Buddha said: “If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.”

Sri Kaleshwar once talked of saints whose whole process to enlightenment, the Divine Mother, and God Consciousness was to sit in the silence of nature. They learned everything from that. So can you.

Part Two: God in Others

I challenge you to: See God in everyone you encounter.

I promise you: Your compassion and heart will grow and your relationships and sense of connection to all beings will improve.

The miracles live at that state of oneness with all things. When we feel more connected to nature and humans we are getting close to the state of oneness.

For 41 days try to think “Where is the spark of God in this person?” At first, it will be hard to remember to do with every person. Just keep trying. Sometimes if a person is giving you a hard time it will be even harder to do. Just keep trying. As you try it, it will become easier. The spark of God is there within all of us. Attune yourself to see it.

Especially do this with your family and friends. You will see the relationship shift as you do. My example is with my husband. He likes to come home and tell me about his day. Sometimes I do not know the people he talked to, so the stories do not mean as much to me. Other times he tells me a detailed explanation of the things he did in building a cabinet and how he overcame various problems there. I do not know how to do woodworking or construction, so I am often lost in those details. I found myself sometimes spacing out during the very time he wanted to connect to me by telling me his day.

So, I decided that even if I could not fully appreciate what he was saying, I needed at least to appreciate him. So, I allowed myself to see the man beneath the stories. The man who wants to share his life and day with me. The man who cares deeply about so many in his community that I do not even know. The man who works hard and with passion. The man who enjoys figuring things out when there is a problem. The spark of God and his soul in him. Then I finally I was not only attending to his stories, but I also had something to say to his stories. I reflected to him the divine soul I saw in him.

Even if he had a bad day full of negativity, I could see in him --the person who wants things to be right, who wants to find the answers that heal.

As I did this, I could feel the love rising up in me. I could feel the innate goodness in him. He responded. I could see it. He felt so satisfied and happy telling me. I then felt even more connected to him and in love with him. Sometimes, even a bad day became good after our talks.

Part Three: Giving Without Expectation of Return

I challenge you to: Give to others freely, irrationally, without expectation of return.

I promise you: When you do, the love of God will be in and around you and passed on to others.

I think most of us know this one. When we give freely and openheartedly to others there is a great joy in that. Christmas is a good time for giving. There are so many opportunities. (see for opportunities to help feed people at Christmas). Feed the hungry, give to the coat or present drive, give to the Santa on the corner ringing his bell. But also, you can give just a small help to a stranger, or smile to someone who looks like they need it.

As Mother Teresa said: “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

“We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do.”

Yogananda offered this prayer:

“Let my soul smile through my heart and my heart smile through my eyes, that I may scatter rich smiles in sad hearts.”

There is a mechanism of sending divine energy in this. Allowing your soul to smile through your open heart, does lead to eyes of love. The eye to eye connection is a way of sending divine energy from eye to eye, heart to heart, soul to soul.

Clearly, those are the everyday miracles we can create.

Part Four: Believe in Miracles and Look for Them

I challenge you to: See miracles in all things.

I promise you: When you do you will realize miracles are everywhere all the time. Further, you will open a channel to the miraculous energy.

Miracles are everywhere but we are not seeing and believing in them. Everything in form around us is a miracle.

As Albert Einstein once said:

“There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle.”

But how to perceive that?

I have a dear friend that sees miracles and God’s hand everywhere. She finds a heart-shaped rock and this God sending her love. She interprets the bumper stickers she sees as divine messages. She hears songs on the radio that are giving her exactly what she needs to hear at the moment. She opens each book to just the right page to receive her thought for the day from God.

When I first met her, I was trying not to judge this. However, I did think she was making a lot out of a bunch of coincidences and superstitions. But as I knew her longer, I noted that she did have more events in her life than most of us, that even my suspicious mind would call miracles.

For example, each time she found herself a bit down and out, some money would magically come her way. Always just enough. And one time she had a terrible car accident and was unconscious right after. She felt someone reach down to her and pull her up. This made her come to consciousness. She then was able to reach for her cell phone (a miracle in itself as everything was crushed and thrown around in the car) and she called 911. When the medics arrived and managed to free her from the wreckage, she had only minor injuries.

I began to realize that I was living in a reality in which I would believe it when I saw it. Like that old saying: Seeing is Believing. But she was living in a miraculous consciousness in which it was not Seeing is Believing, but Believing is Seeing. By believing she was seeing the miraculous in all things. But even more, by believing she was opening a channel to the miraculous in her life, and the miraculous was manifesting.

Thank you, my dear sweet friend, for opening my skeptical heart. Another miracle under your belt.

So, this is our last challenge, to believe. Believe in the hand of God in all things. Believe in the natural, and hidden in there is the supernatural - bimba pratibimba. Believe in the good in others. Believe in the good with yourself. Believe in love, kindness, and giving. Believe in the miraculous of all creation as Einstein did.

Sri Kaleshwar showed many people miracles in front of the eyes. But he noted that many of the people tended, even a few minutes after seeing a miracle, to discount it. They tended to think how that was not really what they saw-- to make excuses for how that happened in some natural way (rather than supernatural way).

I think this is human nature to try to use the illusion to explain the miraculous. We believe in the illusion much more than we do in the supernatural. But it seems to me that there is nothing lost if we believe in something which may not be a miracle. However, everything is lost if we do not believe in that which is a miracle.

Believe. Irrationally believe. Believe when it is ridiculous, or others may judge. Believe, and you will be connected to miracles. Wishing everyone a miraculous Christmas and New Year.
