Each year we celebrate the holiday season by helping families in need that surround our county. Mendocino county has an extremely high poverty level, mainly in families with young children. Celebrate with us as we collaborate an entire Christmas dinner for each family to take with them and prepare.

Today in this most material of ages in which we live, material “things” - money, resources, and anything of material value - act as “karmic currency”. This is through the blessings of the divine father, the lineage, or parampara, embodied most recently in the form of Shirdi Baba. Datta Kriya means literally ‘the mechanisms of the actions of the divine father’. Sri Kaleshwar taught deeply the power of implementing Datta Kriya in our relationship with the divine father, Shirdi Sai Baba and God.

In the first wave of the consciousness movement in the ‘70s, yoga was introduced to the west. Now every city has yoga studios. In the ‘80s, meditation came to our shores. Now meditation is in schools and corporations. In the ‘90s, kirtan singing came to the West, now kirtan is its own genre of popular music. Through yoga, the body was prepared for meditation, through meditation the mind was purified, through kirtan, devotion was awakened. The next wave is puja – Puja is the new yoga. Through puja we can receive divine power and manifest what we need as individuals and for the world.

Folk music plays a central role in creating cultural identity. Traditionally folk music is defined as orally transmitted songs or music with an unknown composer. Folk music is often classified as the oldest songs of a culture or the ‘root’ songs from a specific language. Historically in India they have always made a classification between Classical and Folk music however, even most classical music from India has the origin of an unwritten process of learning.

Every day, (in the) early morning when I wake up I look at my face, and I look in my eyes and ask a question, ‘Am I treating people well or not? Am I ignoring people or really caring for them? How loving and friendly am I around people? Is my egoism going up or staying the same or getting less?’

If it’s going up, immediately I make it come down. Then I go and stand in front of Baba. “Hey, no games. No games. Don’t give the egoism. Who am I to receive all the things? You’ve given it. I know one day you’ll take it out.

Palm leaf manuscripts are one of the oldest mediums of writing known to man, originating in South and Southeast Asia. The creation of palm leaf manuscripts is a great well known tradition in India. The training and the knowing of how to unlock the knowledge hidden within them was passed down from one generation to the next. Restoration of these ancient manuscripts was a primary part of a traditional practice.
